Packaging Design Agency with In-House Production in the Allgäu
Once the design is finalized, a classic packaging design agency begins the search for a printing company, finisher, and shipping provider. Futura Marketing picks up exactly here. Design and printing come from the Carbunus Mediengruppe, while warehousing and finishing are located in the same building. One briefing is enough, after which a single point of contact coordinates all the companies involved.
Short distances between layout and pallet save real money. A design that cannot be produced cleanly from a technical standpoint costs two to three weeks of revision loops in practice. Because this often only becomes apparent during proofing, we check the die-cut contour, layout arrangement, and material thickness already during the design phase. Such returns delay packaging projects more frequently than anything else.
We serve food brands through the specialized division Food Packaging, because barrier properties, migration limits, and labeling requirements are decisive factors there. In all other industries, what matters most is that shelf impact and shipping suitability are considered together. As a packaging design agency with affiliated logistics, we see both sides every day, from the first glance on the shelf to arrival at the recipient.

From the first draft to the filled packaging
We deliberately keep the process lean, because a packaging design agency with its own production does not need to organize handovers between external companies. After the briefing, two to three design directions are created, along with a technical structure with die-cut shape, fold lines, and layout. Only after your approval do the final artwork and print data go into production.
Before series approval, you receive a hand sample made from the real material. The white sample shows whether the carton remains stable when erected and whether the product fits without additional padding. Such a sample can also be ordered through a pure packaging design agency, but it cannot be refined on the machine. This one loop prevents complaints across the entire run.
By default, every project goes through four stages:
- Concept and layout via the design specialists of the media group
- Final artwork and proof according to ISO 12647-2 for color-accurate results
- Production of the run in corrugated cardboard, folding boxboard, or solid board
- Finishing and shipping from our own warehouse
All four steps run through a single order, which would not be possible with a purely design-oriented packaging design agency. Ten units are sufficient as a minimum quantity, which makes test markets and limited editions realistic. Elsewhere, calculation only begins at several thousand copies, because die-cutting tools and setup time would otherwise not pay off. We calculate small runs through the group’s ongoing printing business. As soon as standard dimensions leave too much air in the package, we produce suitable formats as custom-sized cartons.
An agency for packaging that also fills and ships
The work of a packaging design agency usually ends at the printed sheet. Afterwards, with us, the same colleagues who store your goods anyway take over erecting, filling, and sealing. 3,000 sqm of heated hall space is available for this, separated by type and sorted by customer and batch.
Where is this particularly noticeable? Hot foil stamping, soft-touch coating, or blind embossing only have their full effect if the goods are handled cleanly afterwards. Our premium packaging is therefore created by hand, with every piece individually inspected.
A packaging design agency without its own warehouse must pass this step on. We keep it in-house and bill it per piece through the contract packaging service.
Order picking, labeling, and insert management are just as much part of the packaging design agency as the choice of color on the lid. In the end, there is one invoice instead of three.
Saving interfaces with a packaging design service provider
Every additional interface in the process is a possible source of error. A packaging design service provider that handles design, printing, and logistics itself reduces the number of handovers from four to one. Every handover eliminated also removes a round of coordination and a waiting period from the project. Packaging design agencies differ primarily in where their service ends: creative studios deliver data, print shops deliver goods on pallets, logistics providers package third-party products.
We cover the chain end to end and do not prescribe a system for you in the process. We take on order data in the format that already works for you, whether from your shop, your ERP, or an Excel list. Scheduling chains become more reliable as a result, because a delayed proof does not automatically shift the shipping date. Because proofing and filling take place under the same roof, our packaging design agency absorbs such buffers internally.
The cost side also becomes clearer. An externally producing packaging design agency passes on its suppliers‘ markups, often without the individual items remaining identifiable. With us, design, printing, and finishing are calculated in a single quotation. Every line item remains traceable within it. Repeat orders run on the same print data and the same tooling, which significantly reduces the setup costs of subsequent runs.
Handcraft, double inspection, and heated storage areas
With us, packaging is made by hand, piece by piece, and has been since 1993. For elaborate presentations, this care is not a luxury, because a scratched embossing or a lid placed crookedly is immediately noticed by the recipient. Every batch goes through two inspections, one during filling and one before sealing.
As a packaging design agency with integrated logistics, we ship from the tri-border region throughout the DACH region and beyond. Short border routes noticeably reduce transport costs. When a batch needs to be brought forward at short notice, the difference becomes most apparent. A packaging design agency that also operates your warehouse stands behind the result right up to the last shipment and not just up to the data handover.
Are you planning new packaging or a relaunch? Describe the product, run size, and desired date in the contact form. Within two business days, you will receive an initial assessment of feasibility, material, and costs from Futura Marketing.
